Mirasierra was originally built as a family home, with the capacity to provide visiting guests with privacy and comfort. Room sizes are generous, and the house is designed to be as spacious and light as possible, with traditional white painted walls and predominantly marble floors. There is under-floor heating throughout the house for the winter. Although there is always plenty of air moving through the house, we have recently installed air conditioning in the bedrooms to make evenings a little more comfortable for guests in the summer.

The decoration and furniture show strong Spanish and Japanese influences, to reflect the life experience of the original owners.

The Living Room

The living room is the hub of the house, joining the entrance hall, kitchen/dining area, and stairs to the upper floor. All these elements combine to create a single, airy, open-plan space, while each area maintains its own separate identity. The two double french windows leading to the terrace and garden flood the room with light throughout the day.

There is plentiful seating that can be arranged in many ways, be it for a conversation around the large glass-topped table or facing the television for a movie or TV programme (we have a DVD player and satellite receiver attached). There are bookcases full of paperbacks for reading in or out of the sunshine – guests are welcome to take a book home if they cannot get it finished in time, but we do ask that another book is left in exchange. It keeps the library refreshed for everyone!

The fireplace is a welcome addition in the winter, to supplement the heating, and provides a great focal point in the evenings when in use. Firewood is sold widely in the local area.

The Den

Situated just off the living room, the Den is a very handy escape area for both adults and children (there’s a separate TV, connected to a games console/DVD player, and a sound system). The cupboards in the Den are full of puzzles and games for adults and children alike. The WiFi router is situated here so it can also be used as an office and the leather armchairs are also excellent for reading/snoozing as required.

The Kitchen

Designed for someone who loved cooking but hated being left out of the conversation, the kitchen is entirely open-plan, to allow meals to be prepared while still being part of the group. It is fully equipped with halogen hob, oven, microwave and American-style fridge-freezer, and there’s also a dishwasher.

Situated beyond the kitchen is the utility room which, in addition to providing more storage and a washing machine, leads out to a secluded clothes-drying area.

The Dining Area

Situated by the kitchen is the dining area that sits eight people in comfort, but can squeeze in a few more if required. The dining area has its own doors on to the terrace, to extend the meal outdoors if desired. There are a couple of high chairs for the use of very young guests.
